Heinrich Harrer wrote the book "7 Years in Tibet". You have probably heard about the Hollywood movie version with Brad Pitt as Harrer.
What less people know is that Harrer took a lot of exceptional pictures from Lhasa, Tibet. It is worth browsing through them on internet if you have a slight interest in the region and modern history. The book itself is beautiful.
